I always wanted to be somebody, but I should've been more specific.

cover designer part II

I did indeed find a cover designer to work with. Surprisingly enough, she’s local. I found her by accident while surfing around, checking out a local web designer. Her site was in his portfolio.

She took me on after checking out my site (this one). I guess she wanted to answer some of her own doubts about me. Although I understand fears about the sleaze factor, I realized another reason why it’s hard to find a professional to work with me: they’re worried I’m not professional.

This is a no-brainer to someone outside the adult industry. People in the industry are seen as lazy, unmotivated, unprofessional (in every sense of the word but one) and not intelligent. There are many people in the industry who are the opposite of all that but they don’t form the stereotypes. Yet another thing I’d forgotten, here in my comfy little bubble world.

Although I’ve acted as professional as possible when dealing with anyone in the publishing business, the obvious stereotypes I’m associated with override any positive impressions. Then I have to convince them anew. This process will be tiring because I know I’ll have to do it again and again and again. But, now that I know what’s going on, I can do it.

I love it when I get a “Eureka!” moment.

I've discovered the pleasure of working with Brian Gardner's WP themes. His free stuff is nearly flawless and his more expensive stuff is mind-blowing. Although his work is easy to use right out of the box, there's infinite fun to be had by customizing (i.e., destroying) it. As you can see here.
