lectio libri
a rough latin translation for “reading books”
For the curious, here’s what I’m feeding my mind.
currently chewing through:
- never-ending online reading
- Thinking Like Your Editor (re-read)
- Depraved and Insulting English (yes, I read glorified dictionaries for fun)
- Autobiography of Mark Twain
selections from my most recent reads
- The Complete Guide to Successful Self-Publishing
- Sex At Dawn
- Carnival Strippers
- How To Disappear
- A Billion Wicked Thoughts
- Born to Run
- Slaughterhouse Five
- The Lover
- The North China Lover
- The Book of Vice
- Full Dark, No Stars
- Smart Girls Marry Money
- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy
- Poorly Made in China
- The Apocalypse Reader
- The Ink Dark Moon
- The Little Book of Economics
- Five Roads to the Future
- Diary of a Taxi Driver
subscriptions
Due to traveling, I’ve let all subscriptions lapse and currently just pay cash at the newsstand for everything, which means I miss a lot of issues.
- The Economist
- Foreign Policy
- Foreign Affairs
- D Magazine
- Paper City (Dallas)
- The Writer
- Writer’s Digest
- Birds and Blooms
I update the list about twice a month. I’m not a slow reader but often I read stuff that I feel is only of interest to me. I try to post things that are more general interest.
My Amazon Wish List can be found to the left under my “Amanda’s Links” category — it’s the “sample of my literary tastes” link. If you’re interested. I have quite an array of books there, probably not what you were expecting to see.
